How to join our full month diving research package
 
 
   
   

Mundo Azuls diving research is an ongoing program. Each month we are offering a 15 days package and parallel a full month research package to take part in. Both programs start with your arrival on the first Sunday of each month.

When filling out the online application form, please choose the exact dates you wish to take part.


Participation
Participation is limited each month to a maximum of six research volunteers (in both packages together), so reserve your spot now!

 

Requirements

  • Participants need to be certified minimum as PADY Advanced Open Water Diver, CMAS silver (or 2 stars **) or any other internationally recognized recreational diving license of comparable level.
  • Participants should have a minimum of 60 logged dives, ten of them during the last 12 months.

 

Day 1 :

Most international flights arrive in Lima late night. We will pick you up and take you to your hotel.

Day 2:

We will meet you in the Mundo Azul Office for a detailed briefing as well as an introduction to the biology of the species we will work on and the research methods you will apply. In case you did not bring your own diving equipment or only part of it, we will get you fully equipped. In the late afternoon you will travel together with the research team to Pucusana, the small fishing port south of Lima, where our research takes place.

Three orientation dives for you to become familiar with the area

Three research dives daily
Day 7:
Free day for you to get nitrogen levels down and relax
Days 8-11:
Three research dives daily
Days 12-13:

Free days

Day 14-17:

Three research dives daily

Day 18:
Free day
Days 19-21:
Three research dives daily

Day 23-25:
Three research dives daily
Day 26:

Day 27:

We are discussing with you the results obtained during the research period. Final briefing and return to Lima.

Traveling home or traveling on in Peru

Costs:

  • The contribution fee for participants in this research program is : 1,836.- Euros or £ 1,245
  • For payments in $US please consult with us current exchange rates.

To participate in the diving research project, we require that you make the above listed minimum contribution per participant. Sign up with two or more friends, and you are eligible for a discount. 100% of your payment goes to underwrite the costs of your participation in the project and support the conservation goals of Mundo Azul.

The cost of the program includes: three tanks per day, leads, accommodation, breakfast, lunch-boxes, project-related transport, project development and administration costs, as well as a direct contribution to the running costs of the diving research project.

The cost does not include: other diving equipment, airfares, travel and medical insurance, visas, vaccination-related costs, any applicable airport taxes, any payment banking fees.

Mundo Azul staff will get in touch with you via email to confirm receipt of your application form and confirm if space is available in the volunteer program for the date you have chosen. We will provide full details of payment options and ask you to deposit 50 percent of the project fee to reserve your space.

While preparing for your trip, you will receive in-depth information on all aspects of the program including detailed travel logistics, what to bring, health and safety tips, a marine ecosystem, language, and culture tutorial, strategies to support your conservation work, and a list of recommend readings. Our staff is always available to answer any questions you may have.

You will make your final project payment upon arrival in Lima, where you will be met at the airport and given the full support of our staff during your volunteer work

Please note that the program may be booked for up for some time in advance. We advise you to submit you application as soon as possible to secure your place.
