Participation is limited to maximum of eight volunteers at the same time, so reserve your spot now!

From 5 Volunteers on, the group is split off in two independently working groups. Both groups will rotate so that you have the chance to work at both sites. Smaller volunteer groups 3-4 people will spend part of their their time in Pucusana and another part in Paracas.

Travel and time

On your first day (day of arrival we will pick you up on the airport and bring you to your hotel (international arrivals in Lima are usually late at night). On day two we will pick you up for the initial briefing and project orientation in our office in Lima or Pucusana. In the afternoon, you travel to the study site with our research team and the equipment you will need for dolphin photo-identification. During day 3-7, you are out patrolling the coastline of Pucusana or Paracas in search of the local populations of bottlenose dolphins for observation and data collection. You will stay at a local hostal in Paracas and/or in the guest rooms of our local office in Pucusana, and leave early each morning in the research vessel. Each afternoon you will return to port for a meal of good local fare and a much-deserved rest. On day 8 and 9 you will have some spare time – it is possible to additionally book on a fun-program designed for our volunteers (more detailed information see below). In the evening of the ninth day, both groups switch the study site. During day 10-14, you are out patrolling the coastline of Pucusana or Paracas in search of the local populations of bottlenose dolphins. The days 15 and 16 are free again (you may take part in another special fun-program). On the evening of day 16 you are returning to Pucusana. On day 17 we are going to meet in order to discuss the results of the survey and hold the final briefing. The next day you return home or may travel on.
