President of the International
Wildlife Coalition in Brazil

José Truda Palazzo Jr., Naturalist and writer, born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1963. He is the President of the International Wildlife Coalition in Brazil, Founder of the Research Project on Southern Right whales in Brazil (www.baleiafranca.org.br ) and the head of the Brazilian scientific delegation to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and Vice-commissioner for Brazil in the IWC. He works as a consultant for several conservation and research entities like for example the Organization for the Conservation of Cetaceans in Uruguay and the Center for Conservation Research in Chile. He also is author of numerous articles on cetacean conservation, as well as seven books including the first guide on marine mammals in Brazil (1988). He proposed and worked for the establishment of several marine protected areas in Brazil like for example the Marine National Park of Fernando de Noronha, today being classified as a world heritage.
