The Blanquillo lodge
The Tambo Blanquillo lodge is located in the south bank of the Madre de Dios river. From Cusco you will reach Tambo Blanquillo within two days. During your first day you will leave the city of Cusco by car and climb up the Andes in order to reach the mountain pass Tres Cruces, being also the limit of the Manu national Park. Following the border of the protected area you will then descend by car into the lowland rainforest, while crossing the cloud forest and other different rainforest habitats located at the eastern slopes of the Andes. Already during your trip you will be able to experience a great variety of wildlife and landscapes. You will stay over night in the rainforest village of Pilcopata. The next day you will continue first by car and later by boat in order to reach the Blanquillo lodge in the afternoon of this second day. When returning to Cusco you will travel down the Madre de Dios River to the city of Puerto Maldonado from where you will take a flight back to Cusco or Lima depending on your additional travel plans. This way you will be able to get a fantastic luck over the green ocean of trees of the lowland rainforest, as well as the steep valleys of the cloud forest and the Andean mountains.
The lodge consists of two complexes:
During your stay you will be in permanent contact with tourists. This is a perfect opportunity for you to become an ambassador of rainforest conservation. We would like to encourage you – if tourists show interest and without disturbing them – to talk to them and explain them about your work and what you have learned and experienced during your stay so far. Sharing these experiences with them, will help raising awareness for rainforest conservation and of course will help us promoting the positive work of Mundo Azul and the Blanquillo lodge management to ensure biodiversity conservation. |
