Travel and time
On your first day (day of arrival we will pick you up on the airport and bring you to your hotel (international arrivals in Lima are usually late at night). On day two we will pick you up for the initial briefing and project orientation in our office in Lima. On day three you are traveling early in the morning by plane to the Andean city of Cusco. Here you will be picked up from the airport and start immediately traveling by road into the Manu rainforest. You will cross over the Andean mountain pass of Tres Cruces and descent through the cloud forest into the Peruvian lowland rainforest. You will stay over night in the small town of Pilcopata. Already during this days trip you will experience an amazing range of ecosystems and fascinating landscapes like the Andean mountains, the Peruvian cloud forest and the lowland rainforest.

On day four you will continue your road trip to the small town of Atalaya. There you will board a boat and continue by river in order to arrive in the late afternoon at the Blanquillo rainforest lodge, being your base camp for the research programs during the next eleven days (day five to fifteen).

On day sixteen you are traveling downstream (approximately 7 hours) in order to reach the rainforest city of Puerto Maldonado, where you will stay over night. On day seventeen you will take a flight to Lima via Cusco (if you wish to interrupt your return to Lima in order to stay a few days in Cusco, this is possible – Your stay in Cusco is however not included in this travel package, but can be organized by us, if you wish so). Arriving in Lima we will pick you up from the airport for the final briefing in our office. The next day we will bring you to the airport in order to take your flight home or you may wish to continue traveling in Peru (we are able to offer travel assistance and advice for any additional destination you wish to see).
